Koigu Painter's Palette Premium Merino
"KPPPM - Koigu Painter's Palette Premium Merino yarns are truly handpainted watercolours. Each dyelot (1kg) is "painted" individually and heat applied to fix the dyes. The dyelots are rinsed and hung on rods to dry. Dry yarn is reeled into 50 gram skeins and then twisted and labelled. This is a three day process. Artist Maie Landra has mixed the colours for Koigu and the colour combinations are her creations. New colour creations have now been created by Rhichard and Taiu as well. Rhichard Devrieze and Taiu Landra were trained by Maie to paint the dyelots in the spirit of Koigu.
There are many factors that can influence the out come of the dyelots. The individual personality of the artist, the mood, feelings and thoughts of the creator will have an impact. External barometric pressure, amount of heat and the amount of water all influence the outcome of the finished product.
Maie has been quoted as saying the perfect dyelot must be alive with highlights and depth, not dead and lifeless.
A refreshing aspect of Koigu's palette is that it is fearless, bold and luminous with a spark of life in each dyelot. Each dyelot of Koigu's Painter's Palette is an individual creation and there are no two dyelots exactly the same."
Quote from Taiu Landra, Koigu Wool Designs, July 2005
